Hi my name is Maya and I am a student at NYU Shanghai. This is my final project in creative coding. Because I am a Chinese-adoptee-American, I wanted to create a collection of resources I wish I had when I was younger and trying to learn about being an adoptee. Topics include: China, One-child Policy, adoptee representation, adoptee communities, DNA testing, and biological family searching. There is a lot of information out in the world about these topics and more, but I've always felt that they have been scattered across the web and the only way to find them all is if you have a secret password. This can be very discouraging as an adoptee who is just getting started because how is a beginner supposed to know the secret password. Therefore, I hope this project helps adoptees and adoptee-related people get started on exploring aspects of being an (Chinese) adoptee.
